Not Ashamed Youth Inspire

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11

One thing that I have made a personal discipline in the last little while is spending time each day (just 5 minutes kinda thing) focusing on memorizing a piece of scripture that has jumped out at me for that week. Committing the whole week to learning that verse. In the past the whole deal of memorising verses from the Bible has never really got me excited but as I’ve gotten into it I’ve found that it’s been just an awesome thing as God has really used it to open my eyes to stuff that I had never seen before!

For the first few days I find I am pretty much just focusing on remembering the words but after the second or third day you move past focussing on the words and move into really reflecting on the verse and this is the time where things go to the next level. When you break through to this place in memorizing the verse or passage where you’re not just focussing on the words but really reflecting on the verse as a whole, each time you go over it new insights are unlocked and open up! You find yourself naturally dwelling and reflecting on these thoughts and what better thing to meditate on than the Word of God itself!

Psalm 119:11 says “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Now there’s a powerful verse to challenge us in our walks with God. In all honesty how much of Gods Word have we hidden in our hearts? It has been said in relation to this verse, “The best book in the world is the Bible. The best place to put it is not so much on the bookshelf, but in our hearts. The best reason for putting it there is that it saves us from sinning against our Awesome God.” I want to challenge us all in this thought, how much of the Bible, Gods written Word to us, that hold the very secrets of Heaven and God Himself, have I stored, treasured and hidden away personally in my heart? Or does it just remain merely words on a page from just another book on the bookshelf in my room or table beside my bed?

As a thought, in going deeper in your faith, for this week commit to memorising Psalm 119:11 and I pray that through this, God would indeed pour down His blessings upon you in your walk with Him. That as you memorize and dwell on His Word, taking it from the bookshelf to your heart, that awesome insights and new revelations would indeed be unlocked for you, that God would use this time to speak powerfully into your life and heart starting with this week that your faith may grow and go deeper as a result.

You might even like to join with me and memorise the verse that comes with each weeks Not Ashamed Youth Inspire and from there, let Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” be our prayer and hearts desire that we may bring all glory and honour to God in all that we do!

Bless ya heaps and happy memorizing,
Andrew.

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
